During
a recent inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
the school was praised for its warm, harmonious and caring community
and for its strong links with parents.
The report highlighted good results for pupils at the school with
success in a range of activities. The school's high quality pastoral
care was identified as a major strength, supporting and caring for
children and helping to promote their personal development and self-esteem.
As in the case of every inspection, there are always recommendations
to continue the development of the school and in response to the inspection
team's recommendations, Salcombe has introduced a middle management
structure to support the Head in managing the school's curriculum,
including new roles for a Director of Studies and subject co-ordinators
for English, Mathematics, ICT and Special Educational Needs.
The School has formulated policies and practices to develop the way
it manages the curriculum and assesses and monitors pupils' progress.
The Headmaster and staff are also in the process of updating the school's
development plan to set the future direction of the whole school.
