History
History Coordinator: Miss Joy Heywood
History is studied throughout the School, within class teaching in the Lower School and then taught by specialist teachers from Years 5 - 6. Since everyone loves a good story and history is packed full of fascinating stories, this is a popular subject at Salcombe.
Year 3: Children study the AncientEgyptians an Invaders (of Britain): Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, and Vikings.
Year 4: Learning about Ancient Greece and the Tudors takes place at Year 4.
Year 5: Pupils study the Aztecs and the Victorians.
Year 6: Modern Britain and Local History 1901 - 1960's form the contexts or study for the Year 6 children.
History is assessed within the School context but does not form part of the examinations for selective secondary schools at 11+ years.
