KS2 Information Communications Technology Coordinator: Mr Nigel Watson

ICT is taught across Salcombe. In the Lower School ICT is taught by the class teachers whilst it is taught by subject specialists in the Upper School. The purpose of teaching ICT at Salcombe is afford pupils the opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills that enable them to become autonomous independent users of ICT and to develop their awareness of its potential as a learning tool and in the contexts of the home and work place.

Year 3: Pupils study topics including MS Word text manipulation, using graphics and data bases.

Year 4: Topics covered include using the internet for research and safely using email. There is also a cross curricular project on the topic of 'Famous Rivers'.

Year 5: Amongst topics covered in this year, pupils learn to use MS Publisher and how to use MS Excel for calculations and producing graphs.

Year 6:  During this year, pupils learn to use MS Power Point. They also produce their own CV's, business posters and school magazines. There is a cross curricular project on Food Webs'.
