TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
DEPARTURE: 2.00 p.m. (prompt) Monday 2nd April 2007
RETURN: 3.30 p.m. (approx) Friday 6th April 2007
We shall be traveling by coach. Please be at school, having eaten lunch at 1.30 p.m. on the Monday.
LUGGAGE
One bag/ case per child plus one item of hand luggage only. The trip is only five days and there are no fashion parades! Expensive clothing or equipment is not required. Please include a bin liner for dirty washing and label ALL articles of clothing. Do not bring any electronic games or mobile phones. Don’t forget a sleeping bag and a small pillow. Please find overleaf, the PGL suggested kit list. Waterproof clothing is provided and the last item is very much an optimistic one!
TELEPHONE
Children have access to a pay telephone at the site but please do not insist that you are telephoned “regularly” or at set times. Children do not need to spend their spare time in queues for the telephones and they may not be able to at the set time because of activities. In the 14 years the school has been organising these trips, we have only ever had two cases of serious homesickness and in each case there was no problem until a parent rang the centre to speak to the child. Sometimes homesickness is caused by telephone calls rather than alleviated. In cases of emergency, Miss Simmons mobile phone number is 07809 157654 but it will inevitably not be possible to call children to the phone (they could be a long way away and activities are spread over several hundred acres.) We will try to arrange for the children to ring home twice during our stay there. Mobile phones are not allowed. No news is good news!
POCKET MONEY
The children will not be permitted to spend more than £1 per day on sweets etc. in the “tuck shop” until the last night when souvenirs may be purchased. Therefore, large quantities of money are not required, I suggest £20 - £25. Please arrange for the first £5 to be in coins so that it can easily be distributed on a daily basis (we are in the “wilds” and banks for change are a long way away). Please hand pocket money in a labelled envelope (not a wallet or purse) to Miss Simmons before departure. It will be kept by us in a safe and distributed at shop time on a daily basis.
MEDICATIONS
Except for those which children administer by themselves, please hand all medicines, clearly labelled to Miss Druce before departure. We cannot administer medicines without precise written instructions from you.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. F Steadman
