PSHE
PSHE KS2`Coordinator: Miss Joy Heywood
PSHE is taught by Class and Form Teachers throughout Salcombe. In each year group the themes remain the same but skills, knowledge and understandings are built upon annually. The themes we study are:
- Myself and Relationships
- Life Skills and REsponsibilities
- Citizenship
- Healthy and Safe Lifestyle
Year 3: The children learn about the importance of Setting Goals, Healthy Schools and recognising and dealing with bullying. They also engage in problem solving activities
Year 4: Children cover such topics as bullying, goals and aspirations, keeping yourself healthy and friendships, learning how to be involved in discussions on these topics. They are encouraged to discuss their opinions.
Year 5: Children are encouraged to take appropriate risks in their learning, to explore feelings and discover more about their peers. More often than not lively discussions explore personal feelings and children learn to respect and accept others' opinions.
Year 6: Pupils have the opportunity to discuss personal development, and to discriminate between right and wrong. They are encouraged to suggest answers that show understanding of moral and life issues. Topics may include bullying and peer pressure, stress and its causes and symptoms and health.
