Salcombe Prep is delighted that once again their Year 6 pupils have gained places at some of the UK’s top ranked state and independent academic schools. Headteacher, Mrs Leach, expressed pleasure at her pupils’ outstanding results. ‘The competition for local senior school places is fierce. Parents who take a strategic approach and invest in their children’s junior school years are often well rewarded. Places in top schools largely go to pupils who are used to working in an academically focused environment such as Salcombe. Our pupils benefit from a curriculum that takes the best of the broad national curriculum and enhances it with lessons and preparation geared specifically for the 11+ senior school entrance exams. Salcombe destination results are available on our website. Comparisons with the Times UK League Tables indicate that our pupils have been offered places in the top four state grammar’s in the UK.’
In response to increasing demand, Headteacher announces the opening of an additional reception class
Successes such as these put real pressure on places. In response to rapidly increasing demand, Mrs Leach is pleased to announce that an additional Reception class for the remainder of this year will be opened and, also, a second Reception class for the September 2010 intake. ‘Having opened our own nursery in response to demand in September we are now having to open an additional Reception class to ensure that children in other local nurseries do not miss out on the opportunity of gaining a place.’
