Salcombe U9 Boys Fall to Highgate in the Muck and the Mire

The U9 boys travelled to a very wet and muddy Highgate field for a football contest between the two schools. This was a real baptism by fire for the U9 boys who were playing their first fixture of the year and against very stiff competition.

The pitch was problematic from the start as a full day of rain had transformed an afternoon of football into a very muddy one indeed. The boys however coped well and despite being beaten by a very good and polished Highgate team, put in an effort that left their coach beaming with pride. The boys managed  to show a great enthusiasm for the game and a toughness that will serve them well in future fixtures. Well done to all the boys for participating in the less than favourable conditions!
