We believe our responsibility to our students does not stop when they graduate from Salcombe, but rather when they become confident, successful adults. As such, our Headmistress regularly visits senior schools, both state selective and independent, as well as calls on former students once they have settled in to their new schools.
Autumn Term
Miss Sands leads an assembly for parents explaining the transition process, deadlines which are likely to be coming up, and the next steps parents should take.
The Biannual Senior School Forum is held at Prep for parents of children in Years 4, 5 and 6 where senior staff from selected independent schools come in to speak to parents about their schools.
Parents are encouraged to attend the open days of the schools they are interested in.
Spring Term
The students in Year 5 are assessed throughout the year, and the information is collated.
One to one meetings with the Senior Curriculum Team and the parents of each Year 5 pupil are held where school choices are discussed and a transition strategy is agreed based on the academic progress.
Guidance is given to parents about the application process and parents apply to their chosen schools.
