About the Assessment Days
The assessment is carefully designed to reflect the academic expectations of highly selective grammar, selective state and leading independent school entrance. Our Admissions Team will guide you through the process and provide full details upon enquiry.
While academic ability is important, we look beyond scores alone, considering each child’s academic potential, attitude to learning, curiosity, resilience and readiness to contribute positively to an ambitious cohort.
What Does the Assessment Cover?
The assessment includes an English comprehension paper, short writing task, a Maths paper and a group activity session.
Offer Timeline
Formal offers will be made by 31st March, ready for pupils to join us from September 2026. Our Admissions Manager will guide families through the next steps, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition.
Opening Doors to Leading Senior Schools
Our academic rigour, combined with personalised guidance, has resulted in consistent 11+ success. A high proportion of our Year 6 pupils secure their first-choice senior school, with many gaining offers from highly selective grammar, selective state and leading independent schools such as:
Dame Alice Owen’s School
The Latymer School
Queen Elizabeth's School
North London Collegiate School
City of London School
Highgate
Haberdashers’ Girls’ School
Equally, many families choose Salcombe to ensure their child is exceptionally well-prepared for strong local state secondary schools.
Our aim is not simply examination success, but confident, capable pupils ready to thrive in ambitious academic settings.
