Supporting the families of
Palmers Green High School

Choosing a school for your child can feel daunting at the best of times and we are sorry that you are having to navigate this process again.

In this unexpected period of change, Salcombe Prep would like to offer our support to Palmers Green High School families, helping you find a school that reflects the values and ethos you have trusted and providing reassurance, stability and continuity for your daughter.

Visiting Salcombe

Experience Afternoon for PGHS pupils
Thursday 29th January:

We want every PGHS pupil to feel at ease when visiting Salcombe Prep. To help make the experience as gentle and reassuring as possible, we are hosting a dedicated Experience Afternoon so your daughter can visit alongside familiar faces from PGHS.

During the afternoon, they will join their prospective year groups to experience our curriculum, meet pupils and staff and begin to build friendships within our community.

For Parents: Coffee, Chat and Tour
While your daughter is in the classroom, parents are warmly invited to join our Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team for an informal coffee, followed by a tour of the school and time for questions.

Open Morning for PGHS families
Monday 2nd February: 9:15am-10:30am
We warmly invite all PGHS families to our dedicated Open Morning, where you will hear from our Head and Senior Leadership Team, meet staff and enjoy a guided tour led by our wonderful Year 6 pupils.

Simply email our Admissions Manager and let us know which event you would like to join:

Why Salcombe Prep

A small school with big outcomes, where every child is known.

Salcombe Prep is a co-educational school in Southgate, North London, built on strong academic foundations and attentive pastoral care. Our culture is purposeful, kind and aspirational: pupils are encouraged to think independently, ask questions and aim high.

Reception and Pre-Prep School

Salcombe provides a confident, carefully structured start where children build strong foundations in English, Maths and Phonics through an enriched Early Years curriculum, complemented by a stimulating learning environment and small class sizes.

Prep School

In Prep, Salcombe combines high academic expectations with a senior-school style timetable, giving pupils increasing independence and depth as they progress towards 11+.

11+ destinations and outcomes

Preparation that builds steadily and performs strongly

At Salcombe, 11+ preparation is not a sudden “bolt-on” in Year 6. It develops progressively so pupils are confident, capable and calm when it matters most, with a published programme building from Year 1 and termly assessments from Year 3 onwards.

The journey after Salcombe Prep
With Salcombe's dedicated 11+ pathway and the commitment of our pupils, Year 6 leavers consistently receive offers (and, where applicable, scholarships) from a wide range of leading grammar and independent schools, enabling them to move on with confidence.

Fees

We recognise that fees are an important consideration for families. Our fees reflect today’s economic climate and support the high standard of teaching, care and opportunity that defines a Salcombe education—delivering excellent value over the primary years.

Cognita

Salcombe Prep is proud to be part of Cognita, a global community 90 schools, across 21 countries. This strengthens our practice through shared expertise, evidence-informed education and professional development—while keeping Salcombe personal, local and community-focused.

What that means in practice:

  • Continuous improvement grounded in what works in classrooms

  • Collaboration and best-practice sharing across a global network

  • Strong safeguarding and a consistent culture of care
